Technology Centers
Tennessee has 27 technology centers, 26 of them (all except Chattanooga) free-standing institutions. They are the state’s premier providers of workforce development. The 27 TTCs and their 818 employees provide state-of-the-art technical training for workers to obtain the technical skills and professional training necessary for advancement in today’s competitive job market. Through their workforce development mission, the TTCs help businesses and industries satisfy their need for a well-trained, skilled workforce. Under the governance of the Tennessee Board of Regents, the TTCs offer certificate and diploma programs in more than 50 distinct occupational fields as well as customized training for business and industry. Authorized Institutions
The Division of Postsecondary School Authorization oversees and monitors private proprietary, for-profit, and not-for-profit schools offering training or education leading to a vocation, college credit or issuance of an educational credential. Authorization may be granted to both degree and non-degree granting institutions and encompasses a wide variety of schools such as: academic, trade, technical, career, professional, and out-of-state institutions with presence, advertisement, and/or recruitment practices in Tennessee.
